Who are the 5 Filipino cardinals?
Four Filipino cardinals were among thousands who paid their last respects and attended the funeral mass for Pope Francis on Saturday afternoon held at St. Peter's Square on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
These four cardinals are among the 252 existing cardinals at the moment. Three of them are among 135 cardinal-electors who will vote for the next leader of the Catholic Church during the conclave, which will be convened after the Novemdiales or 9 days of mourning.
At present, the Philippines has the honor of having a total of five Cardinals, namely: Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Cardinal Jose Advincula, Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, Cardinal Orlando Quevedo, and Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales.
Get to know all 5 Filipino cardinals:

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle was the bishop of the Diocese of Imus before he was appointed Archbishop of Manila.
Tagle became a cardinal with the title of San Felice da Cantalice a Centocelle (St. Felix of Cantalice a Centocelle) on November 24, 2012 by the proclamation of Pope Benedict XVI, and was part of the conclave that elected Pope Francis in 2013.
Tagle was appointed Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples in December 2019, and was later co-opted into the Order of Bishops by Pope Francis in May 2020.
Tagle, 67, is among the three Filipino cardinals who will take part in the selection for Pope Francis' successor.

Quevedo was proclaimed as Cardinal by Pope Francis, with the title of Santa Maria Regina Mundi a Torre Spaccata (St. Mary Queen of the World at Torre Spaccata), on February 22, 2014.

On March 24, 2006, he was proclaimed cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI with the title of Santissimo Nome di Maria a Via Latina (Most Holy Name of Mary in Via Latina).
