PR firm allegedly behind trolls likely to be invited to Senate hearing —Tolentino

A Philippine-based marketing firm that was allegedly hired by the Chinese Embassy in Manila to organize a troll farm in 2023 may be invited to the next Senate hearing, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino said Sunday.

“There is a chance for that. Siguro kung maluwag-luwag next week,” Tolentino, Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Admiralty and Maritime Zones, said in a statement.

(If a schedule to conduct our next hearing opens up next week.)

Earlier this week, Tolentino made the revelation during a Senate investigation into submersible drones and alleged China’s spying activities in the Philippines.

In the statement, Tolentino noted that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) failed to send a proper representative to share information about the marketing firm.

He also reiterated the call for Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo to summon Huang to explain the service contract.

GMA News Online has reached out to the marketing firm for comment. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
