Over 216K jobs available at DOLE Labor Day job fair

More than 216,000 job vacancies are up for grabs during the nationwide job fairs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for Labor Day.

DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma on Monday said the job fairs will be conducted in at least 69 sites across the country, with around 2,281 employers participating.

“Nationwide ang isasagawang job fairs. Humigit kumulang 69 na job fair sites. Mayroong humigit kumulang na 2,200 participating employers. May bahagi dyan ang overseas employment dahil tuwing may lumalahok sa job fairs maraming naghahanap ng overseas opportunities,” Laguesma said in a media briefing.

(We will conduct mass job fairs in 69 sites nationwide. There are at least 2,200 employers including those overseas jobs.)

“Gusto rin namin higitan ang number of vacancies noong nakaraang year.  Tatlong araw pa bago mag-Labor Day, mas dadami pa ang available na vacancies,” he added.

(We’re eyeing to offer more jobs this year than last year. We still have three days to fulfill that.)

According to DOLE, the number of vacancies for the 2024 Labor Day Job Fair stood at 235,000 — higher than the current vacancies of 216,144. Of the figures, 181,933 are local vacancies and 34,211 are overseas opportunities.

At least 14 of the fair sites will be in the National Capital Region (NCR), with 12 conducting the job fair on May 1 and two sites on May 2.

Meanwhile, most of the job opportunities are from the manufacturing, retail, business process outsourcing (BPO), accommodation/food service activities, and financial/insurance industries.

Top vacancies likewise include production operators, sales clerks, call center representatives, service crews, and microfinance officers.

The top five regions with the most number of job offers are NCR with over 63,000, Central Luzon with around 32,000, CALABARZON with over 18,000, Western Visayas with around 18,000, and the Zamboanga Peninsula with more than 13,000 opportunities, the DOLE added. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
