Oriental Mindoro cadet tops PNPA's Sinaglawin Class of 2025
206 members of the Philippine National Police Academy’s Sinaglawin Class of 2025 will graduate on Tuesday and move on from being cadets to full-fledged police personnel.
The class’ Rank 1 is Cdt. Marc Joseph Vitto, who is also the recipient of the Journalism Kampilan, Best in Forensic Science, and Best in Education awards.
Vitto, who is from Oriental Mindoro, chose to be assigned to PRO12.
“First of all, masaya kasi all of my hard work has paid off. Also, I feel pressured. But I see that pressure not negatively but positively. I’m challenging myself to exceed the expectations of the Filipino people and of course, I feel excited that after four years, I will now be serving as a police officer for our Filipino people,” Vitto said in a press conference.
Asked about his thoughts on PNP personnel being involved in various cases, Vitto replied, “Guided by our honor code system, we the cadets do not lie, cheat, steal, nor tolerate among us those who do. And those values and principles, we will be carrying once we step outside the portals of this academy and will be serving as police officers with dignity and integrity.”

Sinaglawin’s Rank 2 Cdt Kristina Acidre, on the other hand, emphasized studying smart rather than studying hard.
“It is very difficult, the physical demands of cadetship in a male-dominated career. Marami talaga kaming pinagdaanan sa cadetship namin but I think it boils down to managing both your academics and tactics because in the academy, you can’t only be academically proficient, but you also have to be tactically proficient," Acidre said.
"It is a matter of trusting your capabilities and trusting in yourself because everything is done in a regimented way of living. Through time, mai-improve mo rin ang strengths mo,” added Acidre.
Acidre is also the recipient of the Vice Presidential Kampilan, Best in Laws and Jurisprudence, and Best in Public Safety Administration awards. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
