Validated election-related incidents now 35 —PNP

The number of validated election-related incidents (ERIs) has increased to 35, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.

As of Monday, April 28, most of the validated ERIs were in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with 11, followed by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with eight and Calabarzon with five.

Three validated ERIs were reported in the Zamboanga Peninsula and two each in Western Visayas and the Davao Region. Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, and Soccsksargen each posted one case.

The PNP is still validating seven suspected ERIs in Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Soccsksargen, CAR, and Metro Manila.

On Monday, Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas Partylist nominee Leninsky Bacud was killed by unidentified gunmen in Sampaloc, Manila.

Witnesses said that the motorcycle-riding attackers also exchanged fire with a police officer, and several vehicles were damaged.

The homicide division of the Manila Police District is already investigating the incident. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
