VP Sara Duterte says she received summons over NBI complaint

Vice President Sara Duterte said she has received a summon from the Office of the Prosecutor over the complaint filed against her by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for her remark that she hired someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and others if she dies.

“In fact, ako man ay naka-receive din kanina ng summons sa Office of the Prosecutor sa finile ng NBI na kaso laban sa akin,” Duterte said in an ambush interview on Tuesday evening in Sogod, Southern Leyte.

(In fact, I myself received summons earlier today from the Office of the Prosecutor regarding the case filed against me by the NBI.)

This was confirmed by Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon.

According to Fadullon, the preliminary investigation on the complaint has been scheduled for May 9 and May 16.

In February, the NBI recommended the filing of inciting to sedition and grave threat against Duterte after she said that she ordered someone to kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta, and Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeds.

Duterte later on said that her “assassination” statement was not a threat, saying she only highlighted the alleged threat to her security.

She also said her remarks were “maliciously taken out of logical context.” —VAL, GMA Integrated News
