Sara Duterte on ICC list? Palace says it has no info
Malacañang underscored Wednesday that it has no communications with the International Criminal Court following the statement of Vice President Sara Duterte that she is supposedly on the list of persons who might be arrested by the ICC.
''We’re not dealing directly with the ICC. Kung mayroon pong katanungan patungkol po diyan, mas maganda po kung makikipag-usap sila sa ICC. Wala po tayong anumang impormasyon mula sa ICC (If there are about it, it's better that they talk with the ICC. We have no information from the ICC),'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said at a briefing.
The Vice President earlier expressed belief that the 2025 and 2028 elections were the reasons why her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, was brought to The Hague.
The Duterte patriarch was flown to The Hague after his arrest on March 11 and was placed in detention at the Hague Penitentiary Institution or the Scheveningen Prison on March 13 (PH time).
He faced the ICC via video link the following day, where the court read to him the charges against him related to the killings under his administration's war on drugs.
The confirmation of charges has been set for September 23, 2025. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
