DOH, DSWD launch digital platform to boost nutrition programs

The Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), officially launched the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project Information System (PMNP-IS) on Wednesday at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila.

The PMNP-IS is a digital platform aimed at streamlining the implementation and monitoring of nutrition and social protection programs, with a focus on the most nutritionally vulnerable sectors—pregnant women and children under two years old.

The initiative supports the broader goals of the PMNP, which promotes improved coordination between government agencies to combat malnutrition.

During the launch, DSWD Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez of the Operations Group delivered the message of support from Secretary Rex Gatchalian, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration and the use of technology to deliver more efficient, targeted services.

DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa, who led the event, thanked the DSWD for its support, noting that the success of the PMNP-IS lies in innovation and joint action.

“Through this platform, we can track, monitor, and ensure that vital nutrition services reach the right people at the right time,” Herbosa said.

Also present at the launch were DSWD Assistant Secretary Johannes Paulus Acuña of the Information and Communications Technology Management Service (ICTMS) and Director Bernadette Mapue-Joaquin of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program.

Representatives from the World Bank, a key partner in the PMNP, also attended the event, led by Tara Beitelle, Lead Economist and Human Development Program Leader for the Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei.
