Sara Duterte to attend DOJ prelim probe on alleged kill remark vs Marcos

Vice President Sara Duterte will attend the Department of Justice’s preliminary investigation into the complaint filed against her by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for her alleged kill remark against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Duterte said this following her disclosure that she received summons from the Office of the Prosecutor over the NBI complaint.

“Nagkausap na kami ng aking abogado with regard to sa counter-affidavit, tinatapos na lang namin. Mag-appear ako dahil kailangan ko mag-oath,” Duterte told reporters in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday.

(I’ve spoken to my lawyer regarding the counter-affidavit, which we’re only finishing. I will attend because I have to take an oath.)

According to Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon, the preliminary investigation on the complaint has been scheduled for May 9 and May 16.

In February, the NBI recommended the filing of inciting to sedition and grave threat against Duterte after she said that she ordered someone to kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeds.

The Vice President, meanwhile, stood firm that her statement was “maliciously taken out of logical context,” saying that it was not a threat as she only highlighted the alleged threat to her security.

Duterte had also said she does not regret saying the kill remark against Marcos and members of his family, which later on became one of the grounds for her impeachment by the House of Representatives on February 5.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
