The Department of Labor and Employment has allocated P2.57 billion in assistance to workers nationwide under the agency’s Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

The DOLE made the announcement on Thursday, May 1, Labor Day.

The DILEEP, which consists of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) and DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), is seen to help a total of 406,781 Filipinos.

Of this number, a total 389,613 are listed under emergency employment through TUPAD, while 17,168 are supported with livelihood grants or kabuhayan packages under DILP, according to DOLE.

It said that CALABARZON leads the regions across the country in terms of allocated DILEEP aid with P457.8 million for nearly 76,000 beneficiaries.

It is followed by Western Visayas with P301.9 million for 50,600 beneficiaries, Eastern Visayas with P263.6 million for 45,000 beneficiaries, and Davao Region with P259.6 million for 35,480 beneficiaries.

Aside from the DILEEP payout and awarding, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo will have 1,170 sites nationwide to bring affordable and fresh goods closer to workers and the public amid the observance of Labor Day.

With the theme "Manggagawang Pilipino, Kaagapay sa Pag-unlad, Sandigan ng mas Matatag na Bagong Pilipinas," this year's celebration is marked by nationwide job fairs with 250,000 jobs being offered and other services for the public in partnership with the private sector.

Earlier in the day, DOLE said the review of the minimum wage rates in some regions is set to start this month. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
