DOH on standby code white alert for Labor Day

The Department of Health (DOH) has raised its standby code white alert on Thursday, Labor Day, until May 2, in anticipation of any health-related incidents that may need immediate response during the holiday observance.

A DOH code white alert means that hospitals will activate their operations centers, which will continue to report and coordinate with regional and central operations centers. The triage system is also expected to be faster due to the more patients.

There will also be more medicines and other supplies in the emergency and operating rooms, especially for trauma. Other necessities such as x-ray plates and laboratory requirements will also be available to patients free of charge.

More doctors and nurses will also be deployed in hospitals to provide services to patients.

“By order of President Marcos, the DOH is on standby during times like the Labor Day observance for the health of every citizen,” Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said in a statement.

Labor Day, which is commemorated annually on May 1, has been declared a regular holiday under Proclamation No. 727. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
