Job creation, food security remain top concerns of voters —SWS

Job creation and food security remain as the top concerns of Filipino voters, based on the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey,

The survey, commissioned by the Stratbase Group, showed that 93% of Filipinos said they would vote for candidates who are pushing for "increasing job opportunities" and "development of agriculture and ensuring food security.”

These have been the top concerns of Filipinos over the past four months, according to SWS.

The survey, which was conducted from April 11 to 14, 2025, had 1,800 respondents. The SWS survey has a +2% margin of error.

The SWS presented respondents with a list of advocacies and asked whether they would vote for a candidate supporting each item.

On the other hand, 91% of Filipinos said that they would support a candidate who advocates for the "strengthening of the health care system.”

Other top advocacies include workers' rights and OFW welfare (88%), reducing the poverty and hunger of Filipinos (87%), controlling the prices of basic services and goods (85%), equal access to education (85%), and addressing the impacts of climate change and enhancing disaster preparedness (83%).

In a press release, Stratbase president Dindo Manhit expressed belief that it is not surprising for Filipinos to prioritize jobs and food security amid economic challenges.

"Inflation continues to eat into daily wages, driving up the prices of food, transportation, and essential services,” Manhit said.

“Amid rising costs, even those with employment often find their incomes insufficient to provide for their families. Filipinos are not asking for much--- only for the dignity of stable work and the ability to support their loved ones," he said.

Manhit then reminded voters to elect leaders who will ensure economic stability, create jobs, and expand livelihood opportunities.

"Voters must continue scrutinizing each candidate's track record and platform. Promises about job creation should not be empty words--- they must be backed by clear programs and a history of action," he said. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
