Pulong Duterte calls out police 'harassment'; PNP says no such ops in Davao

Pulong Duterte police harassment PNP Davao City

Davao City Representative Paolo "Pulong" Duterte has claimed that police personnel have been sent to their area tantamount to "harassing" their family. Quickly, however, the Philippine National Police, denied such allegations.

In a statement, Duterte claimed that 90 personnel from the Special Action Force (SAF) and 30 from the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrived from Luzon.

"We strongly condemn the recent actions of the PNP-CIDG that have clearly crossed the line into harassment against my family,” Duterte said.

“It is disheartening to see that those who are sworn to uphold the law are being blinded—not by justice, but by money,” he added.’

The lawmaker lamented that the “real criminals are being ignored” while “some in higher ranks have seemingly sold their integrity.”

Duterte also warned those involved in the alleged harassment of his family.

“Let me be clear: we are documenting everything and listing down the names of those involved. When the time comes, you will answer—not to us—but to the very forces of justice you have turned your back on. You won’t be facing people with money, but people who are ready to stand their ground,” he added.

But at a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said that CIDG chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III denied such operations.

“He denied po na meron po silang operation po sa Davao po. So hindi po natin alam saan po hinugot o kinuha po ng ating kagalang-galang na congressman po yung information na nandoon po ang tauhan ng CIDG to conduct operation po,” Fajardo said.

(He denied that they were having an operation in Davao. So we don't know where our honorable congressman got the information that CIDG personnel were there to conduct the operation.)

“[Torre] has no knowledge about the operation or whatsoever,” she added. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
