Robredo meets Arlene Brosas, France Castro; wishes Makabayan well
Former Vice President Leni Robredo met two Makabayan senatorial candidates in her home province Camarines Sur and wished them well in the upcoming May elections.
Party-list Representatives France Castro of ACT Teachers and Arlene Brosas of Gabriela visited Robredo ahead of their coalition's miting-de-avance in the province.
“They wished each other good luck in the coming elections on May 12. It was a brief meeting and we thank the former Vice President for her warm welcome of the Makabayan candidates and current Congress representatives,” Makabayan coalition campaign manager Renato Reyes said in a statement.
Aside from Brosas and Castro, the Makabayan senatorial slate also has Jerome Adonis, Alyn Andamo, Ronnel Arambulo Teddy Casino, Mimi Doringo, Mody Floranda, Amirah Lidasan, Liza Maza, and Danilo Ramos.
Pacquiao
Last week, former Senator and eight-time world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao also paid Robredo a visit in her hometown Naga City.
Pacquiao, who is seeking a Senate comeback under the administration slate, posted his meeting with Robredo on his social media page.
“You already know our visitor all too well. But I would say that his (Pacquiao’s) kindness is not just folklore. He is a genuinely kindhearted, and I am a witness to that,” Robredo said of Pacquiao in Bicol dialect.
Robredo then recalled how she and Pacquiao coincidentally met in Cebu during the 2022 presidential campaign when they were both running for president, and that Pacquiao lent her bulletproof vehicle for her safety.
“He saw the vehicle I was using and asked if it was bulletproof, and I said, no, it is not. He then said he would lend me a bulletproof vehicle, because he said I should always be safe,” Robredo said.
“Magkalaban na kami niyan, pero tinutulungan niya pa rin ako, tulong pa rin siya nang tulong. His kindness is for real. Let us welcome, Senator Pacquiao,” she added.
Robredo is running for Naga City mayor in the 2025 elections.
