LTFRB order vs Move It ops won't be implemented pending appeal - DOTr

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board's (LTFRB) decision to reduce the number of Move It motorcycle units and stop operations in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro City will not be implemented for now.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said on Friday that Move It has already filed a motion for reconsideration with the LTFRB.

“Status quo muna, hindi muna i–implement ang desisyon ng LTFRB habang pinag-aaralan ang motion for reconsideration ng Move It kahapon. So wala munang galawan hangga’t maresolba ang motion,” said Dizon in a statement.

(It will be status quo for now; the LTFRB decision will not be implemented while the motion for reconsideration of Move It yesterday is being studied. So there will be no action until the motion is resolved.)

The LTFRB earlier ordered the motorcycle taxi service to reduce its motorcycle units by 7,826 units and cease operation in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.

The agency said that Move It has 14,662 riders, which is beyond the allocation of 6,836.

Move It was also directed to impose an immediate and temporary moratorium on getting new riders for one year and submit a verified master list of the prescribed number of riders within 30 days.

The LTFRB also ordered the ride-hailing app to ensure transparency and regulatory oversight. 

Move It said the LTFRB's move would displace displace thousands of its riders. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
