PNP now on full alert for Eleksyon 2025

The Philippine National Police went on full alert starting May 3, nine days before the national and local elections on May 12.

The PNP said the full alert status took effect at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 3.

It will be in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, May 15.

Election Day is on Monday, May 12.

The PNP said the full alert status was implemented to comply with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.

"The PNP will be on full alert starting today, May 3, 2025, to ensure that the upcoming elections on May 12, 2025, will be peaceful, fair and orderly. There is no place for violence or intimidation in a democratic process," PNP chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil said.

Marbil said the police force will work with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other government agencies to ensure order.

"Our personnel are committed to maintaining peace and order throughout the election period. We will work hand-in-hand with the COMELEC and other government agencies to ensure the will of the people is respected, and that no act of violence or disruption will derail the electoral process," he said.

With the full alert status, all Reactionary Standby Support Forces (RSSF), Quick Reaction Forces (QRF), and regional units were directed to be on standby and immediately respond to any untoward incident that may arise.

The PNP also said police presence will be heightened in polling centers and other critical areas.

It added that the PNP remains committed "to uphold the rule of law, support the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and safeguard the right of all Filipinos to vote freely and safely."

The PNP called on the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and cooperate with law enforcement forces deployed. —KG, GMA Integrated News
