PCG to provide aid to personnel killed in SCTEX crash
The Philippine Coast Guard will be providing aid for the family left behind by their personnel, who was among the 10 casualties in the SCTEX crash along Tarlac on Thursday.
According to a dzBB report by Christian Maño on Saturday, Seawoman 1 Diane Janica Alinas and her husband were among those who died in the multiple-vehicle collision at the Tarlac City Toll Plaza.
They left behind their 2-year-old child, who was among the survivors.
PCG Commandant Ronnie Gil Gavan said that they will be providing Alinas’ family with P250,000 financial assistance on top of the aid given by other agencies.
They will also present Alinas with an award for her 5 years of service with the PCG.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) ordered the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to suspend the operations of Solid North Transit Inc. because of the incident.
The LTFRB has also ordered the Passenger Accident Management and Insurance Agency to immediately process and release the insurance claims for the victims.
“I instructed PAMI to immediately address the needs of those who are involved in the road crash. They should start identifying the dead bodies and indemnify the families—Php 400,000 for each deceased passenger,” LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III said.
The LTFRB said the maximum insurance coverage is P400,000 for each bus passenger involved in an accident.
DOTR is also considering filing criminal charges against the bus driver and Pangasinan Solid North Transit Inc. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
