GMA Integrated News holds 'YouScoop+ Bootcamp' ahead of Eleksyon 2025
GMA Integrated News recently hosted the ''YouScoop+ Bootcamp'' for student volunteers who will participate in the online coverage of the 2025 midterm elections on May 12.
Over 100 students from several colleges and universities participated in the event on April 25, which was organized by the GMA Integrated News Social Media Team, both in person and by video conference.
Members of the GMA Integrated News Social Media Team taught the volunteers how to look for potential news items, conduct fact-checking, gather user-generated content, and disseminate information to the public, while GMA Integrated News reporters Raffy Tima, Aubrey Carampel, Darlene Cay, and Mark Salazar shared their experiences on the job.
The students will be deployed to the Digital Action Center to aid with monitoring and fact-checking online content.
Senior Vice President and head of GMA Integrated News Regional TV and Synergy Oliver Victor Amoroso, who was also in attendance, said that the work ahead would not be easy.
“It will be hours and hours of hard work, non-stop work, as we have always done, to provide our fellow Filipinos the most trusted and most comprehensive coverage of the elections. After all, lagi nating naririnig din, ang kinabukasan ng ating bayan, ang kinabukasan niyo, ang nakataya dito (After all, as we always hear, the future of our country, your future, is what lies at stake),'' said Amoroso.
''These young storytellers will help us spot real stories and hopefully protect the integrity of #Eleksyon2025. One story or UGC [user-generated content] at a time, they will help shape the future of journalism," added Assistant Vice President and Deputy Head for GMA Integrated News Social Media Team Aileen Perez. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
