Kitty, Honeylet attend PDP event, say no plans yet to visit Duterte again
Veronica "Kitty" Duterte has no plans yet to make a return trip to The Hague, Netherlands, where her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, is detained for alleged crimes against humanity.
"No plans yet," Duterte told GMA News Online on the sidelines of the PDP-Laban senatorial candidates grand rally in Barangay Pinayahan, Quezon City, which she and her mother Honeylet Avanceña attended.
Asked why they were there, Duterte replied, "Utos ng tatay ko."
(My father's order.)
At the rally, Duterte and Avanceña called on Filipinos to support the senatorial candidates allied with the former president and denounced what they described as political persecution of their family.
“Nandito ako ngayon dahil kinuha nila sa akin—higit sa lahat sa akin—ang tatay ko,” Kitty said, her voice steady as she addressed the crowd. "Noong March 11, 2025, nasaksihan ko ang pagkidnap at pag-abuso nila sa tatay ko.”
She urged Filipinos to unite and block vote for PDP-Laban candidates, saying the current administration prioritizes “destroying our family and its allies” instead of addressing corruption and poverty.
She added that Duterte's message remains clear: “Kung kakalimutan niyo lang rin ang Duterten, kalimutan niyo na lang rin siya.”
Avanceña, in turn, asked supporters not to forget the legacy of Duterte, describing their family’s ordeal as deeply painful and urging the public to remain vigilant.
