Comelec asks Palace to declare May 12 polls a holiday for Eleksyon 2025

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday called on Malacañang to declare May 12 a holiday to allow registered Filipino voters to cast their ballots in Eleksyon 2025.

(The Comelec requested from the Malacañang to declare May 12 a holiday to allow voters to vote.)

While the past elections were declared as special non-working holidays, Garcia said it would still require a declaration from the Office of the President.

(It happened before but a proclamation or declaration is still required to have the election day as a holiday.)

GMA News Online has reached out to the PCO for comment.
