May 12, Election Day, is a holiday —Palace

Malacañang announced on Tuesday that May 12, 2025, Election Day, is a holiday nationwide.

Proclamation No. 878 states that there is a need to declare Monday, May 12, as a special non-working holiday to enable the people to properly exercise their right to vote.

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. signed the Proclamation today, May 6.

The holiday declaration came following a request made by the Commission on Elections, with the aim to allow Filipinos to vote this Eleksyon 2025. —AOL/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
