ARTA: 131 LGUs to be charged for not streamlining gov't processes
At least 131 local government units will be slapped with charges for their non-compliance with the government's efforts to streamline processes, the Anti-Red Tape Authority said Tuesday.
In a Palace press briefing, ARTA Director General Ernesto Perez said more than 400 LGUs were asked to explain why they did not comply with President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr.'s directive to streamline government processes.
''Mayroon pong 431 LGUs na pinadalhan natin ng notice to explain para i-explain nila kung bakit hanggang ngayon hindi sila tumutupad sa direktibang ito,'' Perez said.
(Notices to explain were sent to 431 LGUs so they can explain why they are not following this directive.)
''Kaya expect po within the week or next week, sasampahan po natin ng kaso about 131 local government units,'' he added.
(So let's expect that within the week or next week, about 131 local government units will be slapped with cases.)
Marcos has declared the month of May of every year as ease of doing business (EODB) month, with the aim of establishing a more business-friendly environment.
In Proclamation No. 818, Marcos directed the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to lead the yearly observance of the EODB Month and identify the programs, activities, and projects. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
