NAIA car crash driver negative for alcohol, illegal drugs —PNP

NAIA car crash driver negative for alcohol, drugs

The driver in the fatal car crash at the Ninoy International Airport (NAIA) has tested negative for the use of illegal drugs and alcohol, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEG) said Tuesday.

“Results of the Drug test conducted at SPD (South Police District) Forensic Unit on May 4, 2025 was negative, same with the alcohol test,” PNP AVSEG told GMA News Online.

The incident killed a five-year-old child and a 29-year-old man, and injured four others.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) earlier said the drug test and the review of all CCTV footage of the incident will be part of its full and impartial investigation.

Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) already suspended for 90 days the driver’s license.

The Manila International Airport and the private consortium that oversees the country's main gateway are also investigating why a protective bollard meant to protect persons at the NAIA Terminal 1's departure area from wayward vehicles gave way when an SUV hit it last Sunday. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
