Camille Villar back in Marcos’ speech as Alyansa to end campaign May 9

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan— After skipping her name in the last two campaign rallies, senatorial bet and Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar has been mentioned again by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in his endorsement speech in Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ rally at the Bulacan Sports Complex.

In his last two campaign speeches in Batangas City and Dumajug, Cebu, the President did not mention Villar. The last two sorties were held the same week Marcos ordered an investigation into the operations of the Villar-owned PrimeWater Infrastructure.

Despite Villar’s absence in today’s rally, Marcos mentioned her name thrice in his endorsement speech.

Apart from Villar, reelectionist Senator Bong Revilla Jr. was also absent in today’s campaign rally. He was represented by his wife, Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla.

The campaign rally in Malolos City, Bulacan is the second to the last sortie of the administration senatorial slate.

“Para po mangyari, upang magka-kapayapaan sa Pilipinas, upang maging makatarungan ang Pilipinas, para po umunlad ang Pilipinas, ‘huwag na po kayong magdalawang isip pa, pagdating po ng Lunes, pag-upo po ninyo, pag-pirma ninyo sa balota, Alyansa straight, Alyansa all the way,” Marcos ended his speech.

(In order for peace and justice to prevail in the Philippines, don’t think twice, come Monday, when you sit down and write on your ballot, vote straight Alyansa, Alyansa all the way.)

On Wednesday's briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro was asked if Villar still has the trust of the President after she was not mentioned in the Batangas sortie.

“Ang Pangulo po ang nais niya na makasama sa gobyerno ay mga taong tapat sa tao, tapat sa tungkulin, at hindi pang sarili ang inuuna," Castro said.

(The President wants to work with people in government who are loyal to the people, dedicated to their duties, and not self-serving.)

“Pinili po ng Pangulo ang senatoriables po sa Alyansa dahil ‘yun po ang kanyang paniniwala,” she added.

(The President chose the senatorial candidates under the Alyansa because that reflects his beliefs.)

“Kung meron po man na hindi makakatugon sa ganitong klase na kanyang paniniwala na maging tapat sa tao, maging tapat sa taong bayan, ang tiwala po na ‘yun ay maaaring mawala,” she also said.

(If anyone fails to meet this kind of belief—to be loyal to the people and to the nation—that trust may be lost.)
