Duterte-backed PDP-Laban senatorial ticket kicks off miting de avance

The senatorial candidates of Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) on Thursday afternoon kicked off their miting de avance at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, four days before the 2025 national and local elections.  

The 10-man senatorial slate, endorsed by former President Rodrigo Duterte as PDP Laban chairman, boasts of three incumbent lawmakers: reelectionist senators Bong Go and Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, and Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta. 

The political party also fielded four other lawyers, a doctor, an actor, and a detained televangelist:

• Atty. Jimmy Bondoc
• Atty. Jayvee Hinlo
• Atty. Raul Lambino
• Aty. Vic Rodriguez
• Dr. Richard Mata
• Philip Salvador
• Pastor Apollo Quiboloy 

These senate bets have called for the return of Rodrigo Duterte from The Hague, Netherlands, and have committed to blocking the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, should they win the upcoming elections.

Sara Duterte, who has also endorsed the candidates dubbed as “DuterTEN,” attended the PDP Laban’s miting de avance. Also present were Veronica “Kitty” Duterte and her mother Honeylet Avanceña. 

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), there were “more or less 2,500” people who joined the event as of 8 p.m. GMA News Online asked the PDP Laban for its own crowd estimate, but it has yet to provide information.
