PNP: 41 validated election-related incidents 3 days before Eleksyon 2025
The Philippine National Police said it has received reports of 41 validated election-related incidents across different regions since the start of the election period in January.
In an update as of Thursday, the PNP said 26 of these incidents were “violent” and 15 were “non-violent.”
Most of the validated violent election-related incidents were reported in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), with eight, followed by the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with seven.
Three validated violent election-related incidents were monitored in Zamboanga Peninsula and two in Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, one validated violent election-related incident was reported each in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen.
The PNP is still verifying 20 suspected ERIs in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, BARMM, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Meanwhile, the PNP said a total of 2,940 individuals were arrested for violating the election gun ban.
Most of them were from Metro Manila with 1,011, followed by Central Visayas with 380 and Central Luzon with 362.
The arrested election gun ban violators include the following:
- 19 PNP personnel
- 18 Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel
- seven personnel from other law enforcement agencies
- nine elected government officials
- two appointed government officials
- six CAFGU Active Auxiliary
- 13 foreign nationals
- three children in conflict with the law
- three communist rebels
- 48 security guards
- 2,812 civilians
A total of 3,025 firearms were seized — 1,124 revolvers, 849 pistols, 114 gun replicas, 77 explosives, 55 Class A guns, 24 rifles, 24 shotguns, five Class B guns, among others.
