NEA assures energy sector fully prepared for Eleksyon 2025
The National Electrification Administration (NEA) over the weekend assured the public that the Philippine energy sector is fully prepared, and that there will be stable and sufficient electricity supply during the national and local elections on Monday.
According to NEA deputy administrator for technical services Engineer Ernesto Silvano Jr., the agency has prepared thoroughly and is closely coordinating with electric cooperatives (ECs) to ensure that the elections go smoothly.
“Ang Philippine energy sector, sa pamamagitan ng Energy Task Force Election or ETFE… ay fully prepared para tiyakin na stable at sapat ang supply ng kuryente sa darating na eleksyon bukas,” he said in an interview on GMA Super Radyo dzBB.

Silvano said the agency has already released several directives to the 121 ECs under its coverage even before the elections, calling on them to implement preventive and corrective maintenance on all the distribution utility lines and facilities.
It also ordered the ECs to conduct line clearing activities and inspections of feeders and lines, specifically those connected to voting centers.
“Ang NEA at ang mga ECs ay naka-standby at mahigpit na nagmo-monitor para masigurong tuloy tuloy ang supply ng kuryente lalo na ngayong papalapit na ang eleksyon,” he added.
(The NEA and the ECs are on standby and are strictly monitoring to ensure the continuous supply of electricity especially with the upcoming elections.)
NEA said 72 personnel have been on call with 24/7 power monitoring since May 5. It has continuously implemented two shifts per day, and will implement three shifts per day on Sunday, May 11, and on Monday, May 12, the election day.
Silvano has since called on ECs to continue their coordination with the agency, and to ensure that their quick response teams (QRTs) are prepared to handle any possible issues.
Should there be any unforeseen outages, Silvano said an interruptible load program (ILP) may be implemented.
“Sa publiko naman po, mag-report kaagad kung meron mang ganong outage para po matugunan ng EC at kung sino mang agency and kailangang tumugon doon sa ganong sitwasyon,” he said.
(For the public, report immediately should there be any outage so that it would be addressed by the EC and the proper agency.) —RF, GMA Integrated News
