Power grid under normal ops on Election Day — NGCP
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said Monday that the country’s power grid is running normally on Election Day.
In its situation update as of 11 a.m., May 12, the NGCP said its “transmission lines and facilities are under normal operations.”
The grid operator has suspended all maintenance activities ahead of the midterm polls to ensure uninterrupted and reliable transmission during the conduct of polls as well as canvassing and proclamation of winners.
The NGCP also bared the power supply and demand situations in all three grids as follows:
Luzon
- Capacity - 17,168 megawatts (MW)
- Demand - 8,796MW
Visayas
- Capacity - 3,048MW
- Demand - 1,735MW
Mindanao
- Capacity - 3,636MW
- Demand - 1,615MW
The Department of Energy (DOE) earlier said that enough supply of electricity to provide power during the dry season and the 2025 elections.
The National Electrification Administration (NEA), likewise, assured the public that the Philippine energy sector is fully prepared, and that there will be stable and sufficient electricity supply during the national and local elections. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
