68-year-old waits in line for over an hour to vote for Eleksyon 2025
Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD) braved the heat and waited in line this Monday, May 12 after suffering a brief delay in Cavite.
According to GMA Integrated News' John Consulta’s report, this is because one of the rooms at the Santa Cruz Elementary School in Dasmariñas remained locked after the election officer with the key suffered a medical emergency.
Due to this, there was a last-minute change in personnel.
One of the senior citizens who waited to vote this Election 2025 was 68-year-old Teresita Bonifacio, who previously suffered a stroke twice.
She was able to vote after at least an hour and a half. Though she was clearly struggling, a smile remained on her face throughout the process.
Meanwhile, the priority polling precinct will reportedly only accommodate senior citizens and PWDs who have difficulty walking. Seniors who are able to walk are referred to their regular polling precincts. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
