Comelec starts canvassing votes for senators, party-lists
The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), on Tuesday started tallying the votes for senatorial candidates and party-list groups for Eleksyon 2025.
The NBOC, led by Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia, reconvened at around 10:30 a.m. at the Manila Hotel as they started opening the certificate of canvass (COC) from the international posts, local absentee voting (LAV).
“175 COCs to be canvassed by the NBOC,” Garcia said in a message to reporters in Viber.
Of the 175, one was from LAV, 82 were from provinces, 26 were from highly-urbanized cities (HUCs), and 64 were from overseas voting.
Garcia previously said that the COC's will be placed at the Tent City in Manila Hotel.
Meanwhile, representatives from senatorial bets and party-list groups were allowed to witness the opening of the COCs.
The NBOC is looking to proclaim all 12 winning senators by Saturday, May 17.
“Baka itong Sabado o Linggo, sana makapag-proklama na tayo ng senador,” Garcia told reporters.
(We can proclaim winning senators by Saturday or Sunday.)
"Pero syempre kailangan ang Comelec 100% ang canvass. Walang kahit isa man na COC ang maiiiwan pag nag-canvass ang Comelec,” added Garcia.
(Comelec will canvass all COCs.)
As of Tuesday, data reflected from the Comelec transparency servers showed the transmitted local ERs stood at 98.99%. This translates to 92,453 out of the total 93,387 expected ERs. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
