PPCRV seeks more volunteers as ops ramp up for Eleksyon 2025

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Wednesday called for more volunteers as it ramps up its operations two days after the 2025 Philippine elections.

This came after the church-based watchdog received about 11,800 election returns (ERs), which account for 12.71% of ERs in the country.

“We will be ramping up soon kasi madami nang ERs na dumadating,” PPCRV spokesperson Ana Singson told reporters.

“This audit is very important because we will actually check the integrity of the transmitted vote,” she added.

According to Singson, PPCRV will have 97.38% of transmitted votes once it finishes processing the data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Singson is hoping that the PPCRV will have the same number of volunteers during the 2022 election, which is over 400,000 volunteers deployed in the field and command center.

Heroic service

Singson, meanwhile, thanked the PPCRV volunteers, who faced several challenges in this year's election.

“Thank you to every volunteer. You’re doing heroic service in the country, especially since they have no expectation. This is all just service,” she said.

Singson noted that volunteers from San Pablo, Laguna and Malolos, Bulacan traveled 2-3 hours amid heavy rains to deliver the ERs.

In Maguindanao, PPCRV volunteers traveled rocky terrains and crossed rivers to get to the polling precincts.

“From their residences, they will forge streams, sometimes riding a horse, and then there are some areas in rocky terrain that volunteers have to walk,” Singson said.

“Very heroic po yung ginagawa nila (what they’re doing is heroic). To get those ERs here, they have to cross those paths to get here,” she added. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
