DOTr ends deal with common station project contractor

DOTr ends deal with Common Station project contractor

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Friday announced the termination of agreement with the contractor tapped to build the common station for LRT1, MRT3, and MRT7 lines citing “excessive delays.”

In a statement, the DOTr said it has issued a notice of termination against BF Corporation and Foresight Development and Surveying Company (BFC-FDSC) Consortium.

The DOTr said the move follows the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to speed up and complete the construction of the project, which has been ongoing since 2009, to ease and reduce travel time for commuters.

DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon stressed that the common station, aimed to link the LRT-1, MRT-3 and MRT-7 lines, could have already benefited commuters if not for the construction delay.

“Now that we have terminated the contract with BF Corp. and Foresight Development and Surveying Co, we can finally move on with the construction,” Dizon said.

“And next step ay mapabilis natin ang construction nito para mapakinabangan na ng mga komyuter dahil malaking bagay sa kanila ito,” he added.

(And the next step is to expedite its construction so that commuters can benefit from it because this is a big deal for them.)

He expressed optimism that the common station project’s construction could restart immediately to fast track the process through the New Government Procurement Act or the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code. —Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
