Akbayan tops party-list race in Eleksyon 2025

Akbayan emerged as the top vote-getter in the Eleksyon 2025 party-list race and is poised to get three seats in the House of Representatives.

This developed after the Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), wrapped up the canvassing of votes for senators and party-list groups for the May midterm elections on Thursday evening.

Based on the national certificate of canvass, Akbayan partylist earned 2,779,621 votes in the May polls. It was followed by Duterte Youth with 2,338,564 and Tingog Partylist with 1,822,708 votes. 4Ps partylist ranked fourth with 1,469,571 and ACT-CIS at fifth with 1,239,930 votes.

The Comelec has yet to release the seat allocations for the party-list groups.

Canvassing completed

The board of canvassers convened on Tuesday, May 13, and completed tallying 175 certificates of canvass (COCs) in three days, which the Comelec said was the fastest in Philippine history.

Of the 175 COCs, one was from the local absentee voting, two from overseas board of canvassers, 82 were from provinces, 26 were from highly urbanized cities (HUCs), and 64 were from overseas voting.

On Tuesday, the NBOC tallied 58 COCs, the highest number of COCs canvassed during the first day of the canvassing. It completed the canvassing of 101 COCs on Wednesday and the remaining 16 COCs on Thursday.

While the NBOC released the votes and rankings, it clarified Thursday evening that these were not yet final and still subject to auditing. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
