Grade 13 in SHS? DepEd says it’s ‘fake news’

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday dismissed as “fake news” circulating posts on social media claiming that there will be an additional grade level in senior high school.

DepEd was referring to a Facebook post with a publication material indicating that there will be a Grade 13 beginning School Year 2025-2026. 

The senior high school program in the country’s basic education currently only has two grade levels—Grade 11 and Grade 12. 

“Muling pinaaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri laban sa misinformation. Para sa opisyal na mga anunsiyo at impormasyon tungkol sa basic education, bisitahin lamang ang official DepEd Philippines social media accounts,” DepEd said.

The incoming academic year will run from June 16, 2025, and end on March 31, 2026, marking a return to the pre-pandemic school calendar, as outlined in DepEd Order No. 12, Series of 2025. —RF, GMA Integrated News
