Palace: No info on 'target' secretary of courtesy resignation call
Malacañang on Thursday said there is no information regarding a secretary supposedly "targeted" by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s call for his Cabinet members to file courtesy resignations.
"We have no update on that if there is really a target secretary regarding this request for courtesy resignation. There is none, as of the moment," Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said in a briefing.
Marcos directed the courtesy resignations of Cabinet secretaries, with the aim to "recalibrate" his administration after the 2025 national and local elections.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the request for courtesy resignations will give the President the elbow room "to evaluate the performance of each department and determine who will continue to serve in line with his administration’s recalibrated priorities."
The PCO said this step marks a "clear transition" from the early phase of governance to a more focused and performance-driven approach.
While many have served with dedication and professionalism, the evolving needs of the country require a renewed alignment, faster execution, and a results-first mindset, the President said.
Amid this development, the PCO said government services would remain uninterrupted as stability, continuity, and meritocracy will guide the formation of his leadership team moving forward.
