Viral woman from Makati sewage now under DSWD custody
The woman who went viral on social media after emerging from a drainage hole in Salcedo Village, Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City, is now under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
According to the agency, its Pag-abot Team was able to locate and speak with the woman before bringing her to the Pag-abot Processing Center in Pasay City on Thursday.
She will undergo thorough assessment and receive appropriate interventions based on her condition and needs. This action follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for the DSWD to provide comprehensive support to ensure the woman does not return to street living.
Earlier reports revealed that after surfacing from the sewage, the woman ran frantically along the street while being pursued by security guards.
Authorities suspect she may have been living in the sewers for some time, as personal belongings were discovered inside the drainage area. Police also noted that the woman appears to be in need of medical attention.—Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA Integrated News
