Eduardo Año stays as National Security Adviser

National Security Adviser Eduardo Año is keeping his post in the Marcos administration, Malacañang revealed on Tuesday.
According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. agreed to let Año continue his job despite health concerns even at the start of the pandemic.
''Ayon po sa ating Pangulo and I quote, 'Secretary Año has been having to deal with health issues ever since the time of the pandemic, however, he has kindly agreed to stay on in the NSC as he feels.' And the President agrees, our President agrees that he can continue to do the fine job he has been doing,'' Castro said in a briefing.
''So, maaari pong manatili si Secretary Año hangga’t kakayanin po ng kaniyang kalusugan (Secretary Año can stay in the post as long as he can),'' she added.
In 2020, Año tested positive for COVID-19 twice in March and August. He contracted the virus again in January 2022.
