Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Nicolas Torre III has ordered police officers to maintain their physical fitness as it may affect their promotions.
On Tuesday, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said cops should not be five kilograms heavier than their ideal weight, according to a report of Super Radyo dzBB’s Glen Juego.
If cops fail a physical fitness test twice, this might affect their chance for promotion.
While people have different body structures, Fajardo said it is better for police officers to shape up if they have big bellies.
According to the PNP, this will also show police discipline to the public.
Fajardo noted that among the exempted from these standards are police officers with serious medical conditions or disabilities. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
