Palace: PrimeWater vowed to repair pump stations in Bulacan
Water service provider PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. made a commitment to repair the pump stations in Bulacan to ensure affected schools in the province have adequate water supply.
''Mayroon na pong naganap na pag-uusap sa pagitan po ng City of Malolos Water District at kasama po ang PrimeWater,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro told reporters on Wednesday.
(There has been a discussion between the City of Malolos Water District and PrimeWater.)
''Kailangan pong magkaroon ng improvement sa water supply service sa dalawang affected barangays. Nangako po ang PrimeWater na iri-repair ang pump station by June 13, 2025. At makikipag-coordinate din po sila sa drainage contractor para po maisaayos din po,'' she added.
(There's a need to improve the water supply service in the two affected barangays. PrimeWater promised to repair the pump station by June 13, 2025. It will also coordinate with the drainage contractor to restore the damaged main line.)
Castro said water supply is expected to return to normal levels upon completion of the repair and restoration of damaged pipelines before school opening next week.
In a statement, PrimeWater said it is facilitating the rehabilitation of the Barihan pumping station, which had a “sudden decrease” in production from 12 liters per second to six liters per second since June 9.
“The rehabilitation will restore the pumping station’s previous capacity and expected to be completed on 12 June 2025,” PrimeWater said.
“In addition, the rehabilitation of said production well will provide improvement in the area as well as nearby barangays currently experiencing challenges in water supply,” it added.
PrimeWater also said it conducts rationing activities in the affected areas.
“PrimeWater City of Malolos commits to the improved water supply in time for the opening of classes in our served areas in Malolos, Bulacan,” the water service provider said.
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has tasked the Local Water Utilities Administration to look into the lack of water supply in some schools in Bulacan, which he inspected last Monday.
During his inspection at Tibagan Elementary School in San Miguel, Bulacan, Marcos noticed that the comfort rooms in the school need to be improved, however, there has been a problem on the water supply in the area, making it difficult to rehabilitate the bathrooms.
In late April, Marcos ordered an investigation into the operations of PrimeWater following complaints from consumers.
Castro said the result of the probe could be out soon. —AOL/VBL/RF, GMA Integrated News
