VP Sara Duterte back in PH after Malaysia trip

Vice President Sara Duterte is back in the Philippines after a four-day personal trip with her family in Malaysia.

The Office of the Vice President said Duterte returned to the country on Saturday, June 14, at around 5:43 a.m. arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via Philippine Airlines flight PR 530.

“Her return follows a recent visit to Malaysia,” the OVP said.

While in Malaysia, Duterte also attended an Independence Day celebration with OFWs.

She was also in Malaysia when the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms served the writ of summons for her impeachment case.

The Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, meanwhile, voted (18-5) to return to the House of Representatives the articles of impeachment against Duterte without dismissing or terminating them.

The Vice President was impeached by the House of Representatives on February 5, with over 200 lawmakers endorsing the complaint against her. She was accused of betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the constitution, graft and corruption, and other high crimes.

Duterte has said that her lawyers are now preparing her compliance for the summons issued by the Senate impeachment court against her.

Meanwhile, the OVP said that, “The Vice President is scheduled to attend the 2025 PASIDUNGOG awarding ceremony in Davao City on Monday, 16 June 2025.” —VAL, GMA Integrated News
