BARMM police head appointed CIDG chief

Police Brigadier General Romeo Macapaz, the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) Regional Director, has been appointed as the new chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

CIDG Public Information Officer P/Major Helen Dela Cruz confirmed Macapaz's appointment to GMA News Online on Thursday.

Macapaz is one of the 29 senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who were reshuffled by Special Order No. NHQ-SO-URA-2025-4249 that took effect on June 19, 2025.

Macapaz succeeds Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, who assumed the post of PNP chief earlier this month. 

In Mark Makalalad’s Super Radyo dzBB report on Thursday, one police major general, 26 police brigadier generals, and two police colonels were reshuffled.

Among these officers and their new assignments are:

• Police Brigadier General Jaysen Carpio De Guzman (regional director Of PRO BAR)
• Police Brigadier General Jack Limpayos Wanky (acting regional director of PRO CALABARZON)
• Police Brigadier General Ponce Regelio Ibasco Peñones (acting regional director PRO 6)
• Police Brigadier General Arnold Evangelista Abad (district director of Northern Police District)
• Police Brigadier General Randy Ygay Arceo (acting district director of South Police District)
• Police Brigadier General Warren Gaspar Appad Tolito (chief-of-staff of PNP Academy)
• Police Major General Robert Alexander Aguilar Morico II (officer-in-charge of Area Police Command Visayas )
• Police Brigadier General Rolindo Macahilos Suguilon (acting regional director of PRO 10)
• Police Brigadier General Joseph Reyes Arguelles (acting regional director PRO 11)
• Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Tuhay Lucas (acting deputy regional director for Administration of NCRPO)
• Police Brigadier General Melecio Maddatu Buslig Jr (acting deputy regional director for administration of PRO MIMAROPA)
