VP Sara Duterte taps Michael Poa as spokesperson in impeachment trial
Lawyer Michael Poa, who previously served as spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd), has been tapped as the spokesperson of the defense team in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
Duterte confirmed this at a press conference on Wednesday.
“Any question about the impeachment you can direct it to him and then he will give you an interview,” she told reporters.
Poa is one of the lawyers who entered an appearance as Duterte’s defense counsel before the Senate impeachment court.
Prior to his stint as OVP spokesperson, Poa served as Undersecretary, Chief of Staff, and spokesperson of DepEd when Duterte was still secretary.
With regard to her impending impeachment trial, Duterte also maintained that she still wants a “bloodbath,” but admitted that her legal team has advised her otherwise.
“As a client, hindi ko papairalin ‘yung gusto ko over sa gusto ng abogado because that would mean that I am wasting my money paying my lawyers but not listening to their expert advice. Gusto ko ng bloodbath, pero iba ang gusto ng mga experts,” she explained.
