Arnie Teves back under BJMP custody — lawyer

Former Negros Oriental representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. was brought back to Camp Bagong Diwa from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) on Tuesday evening, his camp said Wednesday.
Teves, who is facing multiple murder charges over the alleged killing of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and others, was transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Annex 2 at 8:30 p.m.
“He is still experiencing stomach pains of moderate intensity,” Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Teves’ legal counsel, said in a message to reporters
“He will be requesting for a follow-up checkup from his PGH doctors to be held at Annex 2 one week from today,” he added.
Teves underwent appendectomy at the PGH on June 18.
The BJMP confirmed Wednesday that Teves was discharged from PGH around 9 p.m., Tuesday, and has been returned to Metro Manila District Jail Annex 2, its detention facility in Taguig City.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla previously stressed that Teves will not be placed under hospital arrest nor given preferential treatment after his discharge from the hospital.
Aside from charges over the Degamo case, Teves is also facing an illegal possession of firearms and explosives case before a Manila court.
He refused to enter a plea in both cases, leading two Manila courts to enter a not guilty plea for him.
Meanwhile, his arraignment over another murder case was rescheduled to July 14 due to his surgery.
The Anti-Terrorism Council has designated him and others as terrorists, citing several alleged killings and harassment in Negros Oriental. —with Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
