Rodrigo Duterte now ‘skin and bones’ — VP Sara

Vice President Sara Duterte said her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, has lost a lot of weight since his detention in The Hague, Netherlands.

“Yes, si PRRD… i-expound ko kung ano ang skin and bones—payat siya. Sobrang payat niya na hindi niyo pa siya nakita na ganito ka-payat. Siguro nakita ko siyang ganitong kapayat noong binata pa siya and sa photo nung binata pa siya. ‘Yung kanyang braso ay kalahati lang ng braso ko, so ganyan siya kapayat,” said the Vice President, who is also currently in The Hague to visit her father.

(I'll explain what skin and bones are— PRRD is thin. He is so thin now that you have never seen him in this state. Maybe the only time I saw him this thin was when he was young and in a photo when he was younger. The size of his arm is only half of my arm, he's that skinny.) 

“But para sa akin lang, he looks good na payat siya kesa sa ‘yung ano… malaki ang tiyan tapos parang unhealthy tingnan na mukhang nakakatakot para sa kanyang heart. So, I like him this way na medyo slim siya,” she added in a video provided by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Tuesday. 

(But for me, he looks good when he's thin rather than when he has a big belly because it looks unhealthy and scary for his heart. So, I like him this way, that he's a bit slim.) 

The Duterte patriarch was arrested in the Philippines by local authorities on March 11, based on a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). 

He is currently detained in the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague for charges of crimes against humanity for the extrajudicial killings during his administration’s war on drugs. — RF, GMA Integrated News
