VP Sara: Where will PRRD live if they sell his house?
Vice President Sara Duterte said that the Davao City house can be legally sold by former president Rodrigo Duterte's common-law partner Honeylet Avanceña.
But, she asked: Where will his father live?
VP Sara was asked to comment in an interview at The Hague on talks circulating that the Davao property at Doña Luisa Village, Barangay Matina, is up for sale.
"As a lawyer, I think they acquired the property when they were living in and so its status is co-ownership," she said.
She added Avanceña can sell her share, but not the entire property.
"It's up to them, what arrangement they will discuss," she said.
"As a daughter, I was just thinking where PRRD will live if they sell the house, this is one of my concerns," she added.
The Vice President said she agrees with the statement of her brother, Representative Paolo Duterte, that the former president can stay at the house of their mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman.
"Mama said it's okay with her if he visits, he can stay here," she said.
Asked if a reconciliation is in the offing between their parents, VP Sara said, "No reconciliation, just friendship."
The Duterte patriarch was arrested in the Philippines by local authorities on March 11, based on a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He is currently detained in the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague for charges of crimes against humanity for the extrajudicial killings during his administration’s war on drugs. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
