PCO's Gomez directs 'political appointees' to submit courtesy resignations
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Dave Gomez disclosed that he directed all appointees in the PCO to submit their courtesy resignations.
“I confirm that. It's part of the standard transition process to request the courtesy resignations of all political appointees,” Gomez told Palace reporters.
In a memorandum, Gomez said the unqualified courtesy resignations should be submitted not later than Friday, July 18.
“Until any action is taken by the Undersigned on such courtesy resignations, all Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries and Directors of the PCO-Central Office and Heads and other Presidential Appointees of Attached Agencies shall continue to report for work and perform their usual duties and responsibilities, subject to any modification that the new leadership of PCO may deem proper to adopt in the meantime,” he stated.
Gomez previously said that he would prioritize the conduct of a performance audit within the agency.
"I need to conduct a fair, honest-to-goodness, unbiased performance audit of the office," Gomez said in an earlier ambush interview.
The PCO chief sees the performance audit as an ''urgent'' matter, noting that he already started having meetings with officials in the agency. —VAL/KG, GMA Integrated News
