NDRRMC: 5 reported dead, over 800K persons affected by Crising, Habagat
The reported death toll due to the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the Southwest Monsoon went up to five from three, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday morning.
The number of injured also reached five, up from three on Sunday, while seven were reported missing.
The NDRRMC said it had validated two of the fatalities and one injured. It is validating the other figures.
Meanwhile, a total of 800,864 individuals or 225,985 families were affected by the monsoon and severe tropical storm in 1,556 barangays.
A total of 20,115 individuals or 5,921 families are staying in evacuation centers. Those outside evacuation centers totalled 70,720 individuals or 16,671 families.
Search, rescue and retrieval teams evacuated or assisted in the evacuation of 11,975 persons.
Those who were pre-emptively evacuated meanwhile numbered 1,049 families or 3,198 persons in Regions 1, 2, 6, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Caraga, and CAR.
A total of 138 areas got flooded due to the Habagat and Crising. Of this number, 125 have subsided while 38 are receding.
Seven landslides were reported, one in Region 3, two in Calabarzon, one in Region 6, and three in Region 7.
Meanwhile, 167 road sections and 11 bridges were affected by the bad weather. Forty-five roads and seven bridges were not passable.
The NDRRMC also said 1,234 houses were damaged — 299 totally damaged and 935 partially — in Regions 1, 2, Calabarzon, Regions 6, 9, 100, 11, 12, Caraga, BARMM, CAR and NIR.
Damage to infrastructure was estimated at P219,370,214.38 covering 44 damaged structures in Regions 1, 6, 10, Mimaropa, and CAR.
As for those stranded, these included 127 passengers, 22 rolling cargoes, and five vessels.
A total of 86,373 were reported to have needed assistance at a cost of P50,439,987.10. The government already assisted 63,886 families .
Meanwhile, P3,241,265,378.32 of standby funds and prepositioned relief stockpile have been prepared.
Family food packs numbering 2,987,152 were also prepared by DSWD Central and Field Offices.
Classes for Monday, July 21, 2025, have been suspended in some areas due to the inclement weather. —KG, GMA Integrated News
