Habagat to bring rains in Metro Manila until Wednesday —PAGASA
Habagat or the Southwest Monsoon will continue to bring rains in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.
According to its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said the affected areas are Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
These moderate to heavy with at times intense rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Occasional rains, meanwhile, are expected over the rest of Ilocos Region, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, the rest of MIMAROPA, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental due to the Habagat.
These moderate to heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.
The rest of the country will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also due to the Habagat.
Residents of the affected areas were warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA earlier said the low pressure area (LPA) located east of Aurora has developed into Tropical Depression Dante.
At 3 p.m., it was located 1,120 km east of Northern Luzon.
Dante has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness up to up to 55 km/h. It is moving north northwestward at 20 km/h.
Meanwhile, another LPA was monitored 155 km east southeast of Basco, Batanes.
State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the western section of Luzon.
The rest of Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas will experience moderate wind and coastal water conditions.
Winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.
Classes and government work have been suspended in Metro Manila and some Luzon provinces on Wednesday because of the expected bad weather. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
