Rodrigo Duterte still under ICC custody — spokesperson

Rodrigo Duterte still under ICC custody — spokesperson

Former President Rodrigo Duterte is still under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the tribunal's spokesperson Dr. Fadi El-Abdallah said Thursday.

"I can confirm that there is no change in the status of M. Duterte. He is still in the ICC detention centre," he said in a message to the media.

This comes amid questions on whether or not Duterte had gone out of the ICC detention facility at the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, Netherlands.

Duterte is being held at The Hague to face charges for his crimes against humanity case over his administration's drug war.

His confirmation of charges is scheduled to take place on September 23, 2025.

His camp previously asked the court for an interim release, but later requested the tribunal to defer its decision until his defense lawyers have collated all the needed supporting information.
