31 reported dead due to Crising, Dante, Emong, Habagat —NDRRMC
The reported death toll due to the impact of Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong, and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat has increased to 31, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.
In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said most of these fatalities were reported in Metro Manila with nine.
This was followed by Western Visayas with six; Calabarzon with five; Negros Island Region and Northern Mindanao with three each; two in Central Luzon; and Mimaropa, Davao Region, and Caraga with one each.
A total of 6,276,280 people or 1,751,776 families were affected by the bad weather in all regions except Eastern Visayas.
The region with the most number of affected population was Central Luzon with 2,638,943.
Of the total affected population, 122,716 people or 36,660 families were staying in evacuation centers while 80,766 persons or 21,309 families were taking shelter in other places.
The extent of damage was reported at P6,500,351,557 for infrastructure, P510,305,972 for agriculture, and P281,660,000 for irrigation systems.
A total of 15,309 houses were damaged —13,387 partially and 1,652 totally.
Interruptions in power supply, water service, and communication lines were reported.
Several airports and seaports became non-operational. A total of 70 passengers and 10 vessels remained stranded.
Classes in 1,045 areas and work schedules in 911 areas were suspended due to the threat of the bad weather.
A state of calamity was declared in 192 cities and municipalities. These include the entire provinces of Cavite, Bataan, Pampanga, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, and Negros Occidental as well as other cities and municipalities in other provinces:
- Umingan, Mangaldan, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Calasiao, San Carlos, Binamaley, Aguilar, and Basista in Pangasinan
- Bauang, La Union
- Dagupan City, Dagupan
- Bataan province
- Pampanga province
- Calumpit, Balagtas (Bigaa), Paombong, Meycauayan, Marilao, Barangays Matungao and Tibig in Bulakan, Hagonoy, Obando, Marilao, and Guiginto in Bulacan
- Paniqui, Camiling, and Moncada in Tarlac
- Masinloc, Zambales
- Quezon City
- Marikina
- Navotas
- Manila
- Valenzuela
- Caloocan
- Las Piñas
- Parañaque
- Cavite province
- Agoncillo, Nasugbu, San Luis, Tanauan, and Tingloy in Batangas
